What are the different types of hearing aids available at the Scottsdale Hearing Center?

The main types of hearing aids include:

1. Behind-the-Ear (BTE) Hearing Aids.

BTE hearing aids consist of a case worn behind the ear, connected to an earmold or a thin tube that directs sound into the ear canal. They are suitable for a wide range of hearing loss and can accommodate various features such as rechargeability and wireless connectivity.

2. Receiver-in-Canal (RIC) or Receiver-in-the-Ear (RITE) Hearing Aids.

RIC/RITE hearing aids are similar to BTE hearing aids but with a smaller casing behind the ear. The receiver (or speaker) is located in the ear canal and connected to the casing via a thin wire or tube. This design allows for a more discreet appearance and can provide a more natural sound experience.

3. In-the-Ear (ITE) Hearing Aids.

ITE hearing aids are custom-made to fit in the outer portion of the ear. They come in different sizes, from full-shell models that fill the entire outer ear to smaller models that fit in the lower portion of the outer ear. ITE hearing aids are more visible than BTE or RIC/RITE hearing aids but offer ease of handling and may include additional features like volume control.

4. In-the-Canal and Completely-in-the-Canal (CIC) Hearing Aids.

ITC and CIC hearing aids are custom-made to fit partially or completely within the ear canal, making them less visible than BTE or RIC/RITE aids. ITC aids are larger and fill a portion of the outer ear canal, while CIC aids are smaller and fit deeply into the ear canal. These types of hearing aids are typically suitable for mild to moderate hearing loss.

5. Invisible-in-Canal (IIC) Hearing Aids.

IIC hearing aids are the smallest and most discreet hearing aids available. They sit deep within the ear canal, making them virtually invisible when worn. IIC aids are custom-made and suitable for individuals with mild to moderate hearing loss.
